Street Gang Crime Of London Under Control

Founded by the Romans as Londinium, London remains the most densely inhabited city in the United Kingdom. It has been home to billions of people for two millennia.  Till date, it welcomes hundreds of people from across the world making it home for their careers, professions or permanent citizenry.  However, the city and other regions of the UK have always been under the clutches of street crimes, homicides, and more importantly crime committed by around 250 local gangs. The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has always risen against organized criminal activities.

In 2012, the MPS carried out a crack-down operation to apprehend hundreds of suspected gang mates.  The operation headed by the Trident Gang Crime Command was considered the most important as it redefined the ways the MPS deals with gang crime and anti-social activities. Generally, street gangs in London are known for assault, robbery, loot and drugs dealings. The London authority launched local tasks forces along with the central Trident Gang Crime Command in order to curb increasing crime rate in the city. The Command and the task forces will collaborate with local help to prevent the gunfire and investigate any case if surfaced.

According the Metropolitan Police Services, the gang members are accountable for more or less 17% of all personal robbery. They engage in 40% of cash-on-the-go and commercial robbery, 12% of domestic burglary, 26% of provoked burglary, 14% of rape, 22% of serious violence, 20% of stabbings and 50% of shootings.

The report by the MPS intelligence systems states that there are around 250 active criminal gangs in London consisting 4,800 people. Out of these, 62 gangs are the most dangerous and account for over 2/3rd of total crime. As far as their location is concerned, the report further states that they are around all parts of London predominantly in about 18-19 boroughs. The shocking fact is that most of the gang members young people (18 and 24 years of age).
A well-defined organized plan of action is always needed to tackle organized crime. With the help of Trident Gang Crime Command and other forces, it is relatively easy to track down the criminal acts and prevent gunfire by the culprits at innocent citizens. The Command was introduced with stronger community coordination in order to curb crime rates, protect the most vulnerable citizens such as women and children. To keep a city clean, there is a need for having local authorities that help curb rise of anti-social elements.
